ABOUT FBI-SOS
The FBI-SOS (Safe Online Surfing) Internet Challenge is a FREE, educational, online program that teaches elementary and middle school students how to recognize and react to online dangers. Students take web-based quizzes and review specific websites aimed at promoting online safety.
Developed in cooperation with the FBI Crimes Against Children Unit at the Miami FBI Office, the program is administered by the Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation, part of the Fischler School of Education and Human Services at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The program is supported by sponsors whose name, logo and websites are used to guide participants to an internet safety tip. In exchange for a sponsorship/donation, thousands of students are directed to the sponsor's website to learn the safety information. The safety tip then appears on the internet-based quiz that students take trying to win the FBI-SOS trophy and a visit from the FBI for their school.
